Mail is still happening

So for some reason I have been super busy these last two weeks, feeling like I only have to blink and a whole week is passing by. I mean really how can Christmas be only eleven days away????

But when I did have time I managed to get a little bit of letter writing done, okay mostly Christmas card writing but I did manage to reply two of my incoming letters while two others are still waiting to be answered. Hopefully I can find some time on my next day off…..

Anyway here are some pictures of incoming letters and postcards and the pile of outgoing Christmas cards that will be send tomorrow (most likely some of them won’t get to their end locations in time but oh well).

A couple of days ago I also walked past Tchibo and found something that made me stop a second and then decide that it was just too good a deal to pass by (even if I already have christmas deco tapes that I can only use ones a year). But 7 Euros for 12 tapes was just too good and I told myself that half  of them are actually not that christmassy and I’ll be able to use them at other times too 🙂

Some may call it chaos…

… but I’m going to go with creativity!!!

Now that is is officially December it is kind of time to get all those Christmas cards ready since some of them have to be send out quite early. Since I’m kind of trying not to spend to much money this year, I decided to make cards myself using all this Christmas Washi tape I have. Today I finally got around to finishing the last ones and am quite pleased with the result. They might not be as pretty as a lot of the bought ones but they are colourful :D. To be able to really go with the whole theme, I also got lots of the Christmas themed stamps today. Sadly our post doesn’t issue any with the right postage for international letters which means I have to add extras that don’t have a Christmas theme but I guess that’s just something I have to accept…

Snail mail from the UK

So as already mentioned in my previous post I not only forgot my camera but also my address book… I know very stupid but at least it prevented me from spending lots of money on postage so I guess I should be thankful for that. The few postcards that I send were to my family whose address I of course know and a couple of my penpals whose address I was able to look up in my emails. I was very happy with the stamps I got at the post office as I expected the typical ones with the queens head on it and instead got those Christmassy ones (at least I think that they are already for Christmas).

Plymouth – the UK one

You might wonder why its been a while again since my last post (or maybe you didn’t notice but let me keep dreaming) and the reason is that I was on a little trip for a week. First I went to Hamburg for the wedding of one of my friends from school, it was a lovely day and beautiful wedding. Straight from there (yes I went straight from wedding to hotel to airport without any sleep…) I went on a plane to the UK.

So I haven’t been in the England part of the UK for a while and unfortunately this trip was not so much a holiday but more for education purposes. I went to take part in a Marine Mammal Observer and Passive Acoustic Monitoring course. Both something that I’ve been interested for a while and got lucky when looking up the dates that they were being held this November. I’m not going to bore you with details but can say that for me they were super interesting. The courses were held at the National Aquarium in Plymouth and thankfully there were a few hours every now and then that I was able to explore Plymouth a bit.

Plymouth is a really nice town (not sure whether to define it as town or city but it seemed more like a town) and you can pretty much walk everywhere, always a plus in my opinion. Within the first day I learned that indeed this is from where the first pilgrims left on there way to America. To be honest now I’m questioning they’re creativity that upon landing in America they called they’re new home Plymouth as well. But who am I to judge, they were probably a bit homesick. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to visit the museum to learn more about that part of the history but that’s just more of a reason to go back one day. I think in Summer Plymouth must be really beautiful with lots to do and explore.

Unfortunately while packing I did something very stupid, though I did pack my camera charger I did not pack my camera… so I could only take photos with my phone.
